Forest Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Among the 14 neighborhoods that make up the Minneapolis suburb of Crystal is the community of Forest. Located within Hennepin County, Forest’s zip code is 55428. Forest is set right in the middle of Crystal, extending roughly to 51st Place North to the north and North 42nd Avenue/County Road 9 to the south. Nevada Avenue North constitutes most of the community’s western boundary and Douglas Drive/County Road 102 creates the eastern border. Forest is bordered by the communities of Becker on the north, Welcome Park on the east, and Brownwood on the south.
Situated near the community’s south and west boundaries, respectively, are Simms Park (along Nevada Avenue) and Memory Lane Park (near North 42nd Avenue). Memory Lane is a 4.1-acre conservancy with a storm water retention pond. Although it provides a slightly more somber atmosphere, the Glenhaven Memorial Gardens in the Glenhaven Cemetery, located in neighboring Welcome Park, offers a quiet place for residents to enjoy the beauty of nature.
Forest’s southern boundary is also the main commercial area in this primarily residential neighborhood. Here, Forest residents have access to a Supervalu grocery store, an automotive shop, a pie shop, a café, and an Asian restaurant.
Just on the other side of the boundary, in the community of Brownwood, are a bowling alley, the Crystal Police Department, and a public library. Between the neighboring communities in Crystal and the nearby suburb of Robbinsdale, Forest residents can meet all their basic needs without ever venturing into the city. However, when the city lights beckon, more culture, entertainment, and dining options can be easily accessed via the nearby Beltway 100.
Schools in the Forest neighborhood include Forest Elementary School at 6800 47th Avenue North and Evergreen Montessori School at 6700 46th Place North. The Crystal Community Center is situated along the Forest neighborhood’s eastern boundary, at 4800 Douglas Drive North.
