Stevens Square is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55403 and 55404 zip codes and is located south of Interstate 94, east of Lyndale Avenue, north of Franklin Avenue, and west of Interstate 35W.
Homes in Stevens Square are mostly older with the majority built prior to 1940. There are, however, many homes representing each decade making for an interesting mix of different types of homes providing a little something for everyone.
Stevens Square is close to most of the major attractions in the Minneapolis area. Since the major downtown section of the city is within a mile of the neighborhood, finding something to do definitely isn’t an issue for area residents. The closest destination is the Minneapolis Convention Center just across Interstate 94. The convention center is host to many major conventions and shows throughout the year, many of which are open to the public.
Located near the convention center off Nicollet Avenue is the Minnesota Orchestra. The venue is home to numerous different events throughout the year, including the highly popular Christmas Concert which is held each year. Another popular cultural destination which is about a mile away from Stevens Square off 2nd Street is the Guthrie Theater. The Guthrie Theater has many theatrical productions throughout the year, many of which are Broadway style performances.
Next to the Guthrie Theater is the Mill City Museum. This interesting museum was built into the ruins of an old flour mill. The museum provides a history of Minneapolis, the Mississippi River, and of the flour mill industry as a whole.
On the other side of the Guthrie Theater is Gold Medal Park. The park is an architectural masterpiece providing excellent views overlooking the Mississippi River and an interesting take on structural art. It is a great place to relax and take a picnic, and is a must see for visitors.
