Much of Blaine has a somewhat rural feel, and this community is no exception. Most of Willowbrook is undeveloped land, but a few single-family homesteads can be found on the north and south. Much of the surrounding area is undeveloped, as well, with homes scattered throughout on large lots. Not only that, but city conveniences are just a short drive away in downtown Blaine or farther south in Minneapolis.

This community is situated just a few miles northwest of several of the city’s many lakes, which provide opportunities for fishing, swimming, and boating. During the cold winter months, residents may come to this area for ice fishing. Another opportunity for outdoor recreation within five miles of Willowbrook is the Blaine Town Square Park to the southwest. This park is one of the largest and most popular in the city, offering a long list of amenities.

Avid golfers living in Willowbrook may belong to the Majestic Oaks Golf Club, a prestigious private club just over five miles to the west. In addition to a scenic 18-hole course, this golf club also offers dining and banquet options. Bunker Hills Golf Course is a popular public course situated within 10 miles west of this community.
