Dinkytown Apartments for Rent

Dinkytown is located very close to downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota on the east side. Dinkytown is bordered by Interstate 35W, State Route 280, southeast 8th Street, and the Mississippi River. This is predominately a college neighborhood.

Dinkytown is right next to the campus of the University of Minnesota and the Carlson School of Management. This city has old brick walk-up apartments, older homes, and condominiums. Most of the students who attend the university live in Dinkytown due to its close proximity to the college.

There are five parks near Dinkytown. The largest and most popular of the parks is Hennepin Island Park. This park is on the banks of the Mississippi River and provides visitors with walking paths along the river, bike trails, and picnic areas. Hennepin Island Park also has live music during the summer and small art festivals are held here, too.

Dinkytown is just across the river from downtown Minneapolis, making it easy to access all that the big downtown city has to offer. Minneapolis has two major stage theaters, the Guthrie and the Orpheum. Both of these theaters offer live off-Broadway shows, like Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, and during the holidays, the Nutcracker. The Orpheum has live music acts as well as live theater.

This community is fortunate to be served by two major hospitals, the University of Minnesota Hospital and Fairview Medical Center. The University of Minnesota is one of the best medical colleges in the country, right behind Johns Hopkins University.

Dinkytown has several dining options and nightclubs right in town to entertain residents on the weekends. One of the most popular and historical nightclubs is the Pussy Cat Club. This nightclub has been around for decades and has hosted famous people like Frank Sinatra and Prince.
