Glen Meade is a quiet, quaint neighborhood between South 17th Street and Independence Boulevard in Wilmington. Adjacent to Glen Meade is a grove of trees with a small trail that leads to Shipyard Boulevard. Several businesses on South 17th Street are within walking distance of the neighborhood, among them Taco Bell, Dunkin’ Donuts, Quiznos Sandwiches, and CVS Pharmacy.
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center sits next to Glen Meade. This medical site also contains the Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital and the New Hanover County Health Department.
Masonboro Inlet, a popular spot for surfing, attracts Glen Meade residents as well as tourists. Summertime finds the Wrightsville Beach filled with sun worshipers. Masonboro Island in an undeveloped barrier island. The only way to reach it is by boat or paddling.
Ten minutes from Glen Meade is the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Students living in the neighborhood can easily bike to the university. Prospective students and visitors can tour the campus, and the university offers tutoring and summer camps for children.

Greenfield Lake provides outdoor recreation. Visitors can boat, fish, and swim. Nearby is the Cape Fear River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The river is another spot for recreation and provides wonderful scenic views.
Glen Meade is about three miles from downtown Wilmington, so residents have good access to shopping, major businesses, and other attractions.
