Houston’s Westside has experienced massive growth over the last few years, and the demand for homes has exceeded the supply in some of the subdivisions. The Westside area consists of many of these different areas, including the Energy Corridor.

The West Loop/Galleria area is known for high rise buildings that dot the Houston skyline, and is considered by many in the area as Houston’s second downtown. It is home to many upscale shops, restaurants, and luxury hotels. The Galleria is a high-end shopping and office venue that even has an indoor ice rink. As property values indicate, the Westside is one of the most popular areas of Houston.

Tanglewood/Broadoaks, west of the Galleria, used to be home to former president George H.W. Bush. The older homes have been replaced by new Colonial, Georgian, and contemporary homes. The Villages/Memorial is located near West Memorial and the Interstate 10/Katy Freeway. The term “villages” refers to the residential communities of Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hunter’s Creek, and Piney Point. They are all located just south of Interstate 10 West. The upscale homes in this area were built between the 1960s and 1980s.

West Memorial is located farther west on Memorial and past Wilcrest. There are many subdivisions in the area that were built in the 1960s and 1970s. Katy is located about 30 miles west of Houston, and has the small town atmosphere that many people love.

The Energy Corridor District is also on Houston’s Westside. It is home to several international energy companies, and also offers fine dining, accommodations for visitors, and shopping. The Westside area of Houston is accessible to major highways (such as Interstate 10), and to all sorts of amenities such as upscale shopping at the Galleria, which also houses an indoor skating rink.
