Dallas is part of the unique DFW Metroplex, the only metroplex in the nation. Large, busy, bustling – when you become a part of this metro area, you’re never far from entertainment – or from any other city in the country! A four-hour flight from the DFW International Airport or Love Field will take you to any major US city. But once you’ve found an apartment in Dallas, you may not want to leave! This city has amazing entertainment, several Fortune 500 companies, and the one-and-only Dallas Cowboys! Ready to live big in Dallas? Here’s everything you need to know about Dallas apartments, the Dallas lifestyle, and the city’s amazing destinations.

Things to Do in Dallas:

From catching a performance of the Texas Ballet at the AT&T Performing Arts Center to watching a sporting event at American Airlines Center to shopping at Trader’s Village (the most popular flea market in Texas), Dallas truly has something for everyone – and then some. Visit Southfork Ranch, where the famous TV show, Dallas, was filmed.

Families can enjoy Six Flags Over Texas, the Dallas Zoo, the Dallas Aquarium, and the Museum of Nature and Science. Explore history at the Sixth Floor Museum and the historic Fair Park, which also contains seven museums and six performance venues. Watch the Dallas Cowboys play football at the AT&T Stadium, the Mavericks play basketball or the Stars play hockey at the American Airlines Center, or head to nearby Arlington and watch the Texas Rangers play baseball at Globe Life Park. Dallas was named America’s favorite sports city for good reason – in addition to teams in all pro sports, Dallas also offers several college sports teams, as well.

The Nasher Sculpture Center is a unique destination and should definitely be included on your “must-see” list after you move to your new apartment in Dallas. This center contains one of the world’s finest collections of modern and contemporary sculpture, with over 300 masterpieces by Matisse, Picasso, Rodin, Calder, Serra, and many more. The center includes an auditorium, a café, and research facilities.

The historic Dealey Plaza, listed as a National Historic Landmark, is a city park that contains the Texas School Book Depository (home of the Sixth Floor Museum) and the Grassy Knoll. This is the area where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. The park is located in Dallas’ historic West End district.

Take advantage of the beautiful weather in Dallas at nearby White Rock Lake, located about five miles north of downtown. This park offers kayaking, boat ramps, the Dallas Arboretum, a dog park, the White Rock Lake Museum, a hiking and biking trail, wetlands, piers, and picnic areas. It is the most popular park in Dallas.

Head south and discover Joe Pool Lake, another terrific recreation area that offers fishing, jet skiing, picnicking, boating, swimming, camping, and marinas. Several parks surround the lake, including the 1,826-acre Cedar Hill State Park. This park offers boat ramps, a marina, a fishing barge, hiking trails, a swimming area, picnic areas, and a mountain biking trail. Loyd Park has a campground, a boat dock, a beach, a ball field, a volleyball court, an equestrian trail, and hiking trails. Lynn Creek State Park has a beach area, concessions, picnic areas, and sand volleyball courts.

Another popular Dallas park is Pioneer Plaza, located in the Convention Center District. The park includes the Confederate War Memorial and the landmark sculpture depicting a 19th-century cattle drive. The park, which is one of the most-visited tourist destinations in Dallas, is located next to the Dallas Convention Center.

After choosing your Dallas apartment, you can enjoy bicycling, walking, jogging, or inline skating on the Katy Trail. This trail follows former railroad tracks and is a wide, paved trail that extends 3.5 miles through the city. As one of the city’s favorite outdoor spaces, the trail includes pedestrian bridges and entrance plazas.

What to Consider When Moving to Dallas:

Dallas is a vibrant, energetic city. The city’s strong economy includes several Fortune 500 companies. Some of the large companies that call Dallas home include Texas Instruments, AT&T, ExxonMobil, Dean Foods, and Southwest Airlines. As the city becomes increasingly pedestrian-friendly, Dallas is home to DART, one of the nation’s fastest-growing light rail systems, and the McKinney Avenue Trolley, a free trolley that takes passengers from the Dallas Arts District throughout the Uptown area.

Dallas offers some of the best shopping destinations in Texas, terrific restaurants, and exciting nightlife. Many of these venues are located in Downtown Dallas’ entertainment districts. If nightlife is high on your must-have list, then be sure to look for apartments in Dallas neighborhoods such as the Arts District, the Design District, Uptown, the West End, and Deep Ellum. But be careful – these districts are all similar in their wealth of entertainment, but they are very different in what they offer.  For example, the Bishop Arts District is a fun, funky area with trendy boutiques in former warehouses, independent retailers, and locally-owned restaurants offering farm-to-table cuisine. Deep Ellum oozes cool – this is the “birthplace of jazz and the blues,” after all, and it is filled with clubs, live music venues, art galleries, and great restaurants. For high-end shopping and exclusive restaurants, Highland Park is one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Dallas.

Why Dallas Apartments Are Hot:

Big things happen here – and if you want to be a part of it, rent an apartment in Dallas. But you can escape all of that excitement at nearby lakes and parks such as White Rock, where a peaceful setting offers a tranquil hideaway just minutes from the heart of the city. Big spaces, big buildings, big fun, and big hair – this is Dallas, and you belong here! Rent your Dallas apartment now and start living big.
