The Garden District is a Tulsa, Oklahoma neighborhood. Boundaries of this neighborhood are East 21st Street to the north, South Peoria Avenue to the west, East 31st Street to the south, and South Utica Avenue to the east.
The northwest corner of the Garden District is occupied by Woodward Park. This park makes good use of its 34 acres, with plenty of trails that wind around its flowers, pond, waterfalls, and its play area for children. Spring is a beautiful time to visit here, with a wide array of flowers in bloom.
In an historic building to the south of this park is the Tulsa Garden Center. This center is a hub of horticultural activities in Tulsa. Along with this, it is also a resource center for the community, with an extensive library of books related to horticulture. Visitors to the Tulsa Garden Center are also allowed to tour this historic home, and to enjoy the history that it preserves.
A short walk south of here is the Tulsa Historical Society and Museum. At this museum one can peruse the eight exhibit galleries, to enjoy eight different themes in local history. Exhibits are changed at least once a year, so there is always something new to come back to. An ongoing exhibition is “Life of a House: The History of the Travis Mansion.” This exhibit tells the story of the mansion that houses the Tulsa Historical Society, in pictures.
Still further south in the Garden District, located on South Rockford Road, are the Philbrook Museum of Art Museum Shop, the Philbrook Museum of Art, and the Philbrook Museum of Art Research Library. Featuring fine arts from around the globe, free admission on the second Saturday of each month here gives everyone an opportunity to revel in the beauty of the arts.
