The Harmon Den Wildlife Management Area can be found to the northwest and west of the community, while the Nantahala National Forest lies to the southwest and south. A little farther to the west, one can find the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Pisgah National Forest covers the neighborhood’s northeastern area. Other local natural attractions include Lake Junaluska to the west, Biltmore Lake to the southwest, and Biltmore Forest to the southeast. Beaver Lake Golf Course lies only a few miles north of Asheville.

Asheville enjoys a prominent location in the far western portion of North Carolina, near the Tennessee state line. Interstates 40, 26, and 81 wrap around the area surrounding the community and provide quick and easy access to Knoxville and other Tennessee destinations, as well as to multiple venues throughout the Tarheel State. Additionally, the commute from Deaverview to the downtown Asheville area is a straight shot along one of two local corridors, New Leicester Highway or Patton Avenue.
