Jacksonville Naval Air Station Area Apartment Housing(hide military information)
Jacksonville Naval Air Station resembles a small city, sprawled along the St. John’s River roughly five miles south of downtown Jacksonville and on the north side of Orange Park. NAS Jacksonville area apartments are plentiful in both locations, as well as several other surrounding communities. The base was built in 1940 and is one of two naval bases in Duval County.
Jacksonville is Florida’s largest city and the 12th largest in the US. It is located on the northeast coast, home to popular beaches and beach towns, including Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach. Jacksonville, founded in 1791, has four neighborhoods listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Springfield, Riverside, Avondale, and Ortega.
Orange Park, located just south of NAS Jacksonville, is considered a suburb of Jacksonville. The town was established in 1877 with the hope that it would become a great fruit-growing region. Unfortunately, in 1894-95, the Great Freeze destroyed the crops and they were never able to recover. Despite its rocky beginnings, Orange Park today is a beautiful location along the St. Johns River.
The Orange Park area includes several other communities, ideal for apartments near Naval Air Station Jacksonville. They include Ridgewood, Doctor’s Inlet, Fleming Island, Bellair-Meadowbrook Terrace, and Orange Park South.
