Ortega Hills Neighborhood

The community of Ortega Hills is located west of Roosevelt Boulevard and north of Florida 9A, in Jacksonville, Florida, just west of Naval Air Station Jacksonville. This community is just minutes southwest of downtown Jacksonville, in the area known as the Westside. Collins Road is the main street that runs through the community.

This community offers primarily affordable, single-story and two-story homes built in the 1980s and early 90s. However, Ortega Hills also offers some affordable apartment living options.

Due to the proximity of the Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Ortega Hills has a large population of active duty military personnel. NAS Jacksonville, a multi-mission base and the third largest naval base in the United States, occupies nearly 4,000 acres of land along the St. Johns River to the east of Ortega Hills and is a major economic uplift for this area.

For residents of Ortega Hills looking to get out and enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine Ringhaver Park, just slightly north of Ortega Hills, is a longtime popular destination for locals. The park offers ball fields, as well as colorful play areas and picnic facilities. The walking path here leads to the Ortega Stream Valley Canoe launch.

Residents of Ortega Hills utilize the nearby St. Johns River for recreational activities such as fishing, boating, water sports, swimming and beaches.

Just northeast of Ortega Forest lies Timuquana Country Club. This private country club offers prime golfing, gorgeous grounds and superior amenities to those lucky enough to be members here.
