Northwest Jacksonville Neighborhood

Just beyond the outskirts of suburban Jacksonville is the neighborhood of Northwest Jacksonville in Duval County. Centered on the Stone Mountain Industrial Park, the community is located in a semi-rural industrial region neighbored by quiet suburban communities and the Florida 9A freeway to the east, and preserved forests to the north and west. It is 17 miles from downtown Jacksonville.

Much of the community is covered in green trees and vegetation. Nearby Cary State Forest offers 18 miles of mountain biking trails. A few minutes north is the Thomas Creek Conservation Area, a large swath of natural wetlands with opportunities for fishing, hunting, hiking, and viewing wildlife from deer to snapping turtles. Bull’s Bay, a preserve in the southern part of the community, is another popular place for hiking.

Shops, churches, and many other facilities are available less than a mile away in the quaint historic community of Dinsmore. Local children attend school at Dinsmore Elementary School, situated next to a small baseball park. For older children, it’s a short bus ride to Jean Ribault Middle School and nearby high schools.

Some of the best athletic facilities in the region are just up the street in neighboring Harborview. The Bob Hayes Sports Complex features four soccer fields, concession stands, and plentiful parking. Next door is Charles Clark Park, a typical neighborhood park with baseball, tennis, basketball, and football facilities, and a children’s play area. Both parks are conveniently located next to large strip malls.

A unique blend of outdoor activities and urban accessibility make Northwest Jacksonville a coveted place to live.
