Sea Breeze Neighborhood
The Jacksonville neighborhood of Sea Breeze is complemented by collection of trees and generally wild parkland, yet this area is without the park designation. Much of the area is owned by the city and is not private property, but it is also not zoned as a park. The small community may expand in the future, but it remains small and close knit for now.
Owens Road, on the far southern border of Sea Breeze, has about half a dozen businesses that are within the neighborhood limits of Sea Breeze, but no residential homes are available either for sale or rent in the area. Neighboring communities to the east and south are comparatively bustling, but Sea Breeze proper is especially deserted, considering its walking-distance vicinity to the Jacksonville International Airport.
Because the wooded area permeating Sea Breeze is not zoned as a park or preserve, area residents are legally allowed to explore the public land as they might wish. However, the lack of established trails or other visitor-friendly apparatus there, when combined with the fact of the Timucaun Ecological and Historical Preserve being less than a minute’s drive north from the area, makes it so that local residents are far more apt to spend what time they wish to explore wooded areas in the officially designated parkland instead.
Sea Breeze is bordered on the east by Interstate 95, and local residents usually recognize the area as being the dense woodland lying between the Interstate and the Jacksonville International Airport. The only path through the middle of Sea Breeze is that of the power lines linking the Airport to the rest of the city’s power grid.
