Sugarwood Grove is a moderately sized community within the city of Citrus Park, Florida. This community is situated nine miles northwest of Tampa and less than 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
This neighborhood has a couple of unique attractions that might pique your interest. The Big Cat Rescue is located in Citrus Park. This unique sanctuary for large cats is open to the public. The cat park features lions, tigers, panthers, and much more, so bring the kids by and have a great afternoon. Citrus Park is home to the famous chimpanzee, J Fred Muggs. For those of you who don’t know who J Fred Muggs is, he was a regular on The Today Show from 1953 to 1957. If you get the opportunity to stop by the Muggs residence, remember to bring a banana.
Shopping around Sugarwood Grove is easy – just drive a few blocks to the Westfield Mall at Citrus Plaza. This mall has everything you could ever need when it comes to shopping. Westfield has stores such as Abercrombie, Coach, Dillard’s, Macy’s, and many more. Dining in the mall isn’t limited to the food court either – you can stop in at BJ’s Brew House and wash down a steak with a pint of your favorite ale or head on over to Red Robin for a gourmet hamburger that will leave you looking for the nearest couch to nap on.
Sugarwood Grove is a quiet, gated community with a population that is diverse in age. While you may be away from the big city here, you are so close to a major freeway that you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds. The Veterans Expressway is a toll way, but is the quickest route to Tampa. If you’re heading to Orlando for a Disney weekend, Veterans Expressway will take you in the right direction as well.
