Southwest Tampa Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Southwest Tampa neighborhood covers a large area surrounded by Tampa Bay. It is a well-established area with homes ranging from stately two-stories to comfortable ranch styles. Some homes along the Bay have the distinct charm of Old Florida.
The Southwest Tampa neighborhood includes most of the area bound by West Kennedy Boulevard, Bayshore Boulevard, McDill AFB, and Old Tampa Bay.
The exclusive Tampa Yacht and Country Club lies along the east side of the neighborhood. Adjacent to the yacht club is Ballast Point Park, one of Tampa’s oldest parks. Set along the shore of Tampa Bay, with great skyline views, it’s a popular family park.
The Channelside District—a vibrant downtown entertainment area—is quite close, and the plaza here is the site of large musical events. Also at Channelside is an IMAX theater, the Tampa Aquarium, and the St. Pete Times Forum, home of the Tampa Lightning NHL team.
But the Channelside District is only one of many attractions close to Southwest Tampa. Residents of the north part of the neighborhood, along West Kennedy Boulevard, can literally walk to the University of Tampa, the Henry B. Plant Museum, the Tampa Museum of Art, and Lykes Gaslight Park, which is the scene of some of Tampa’s finest outdoor concerts.
Golfers will be pleased to know that Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club is within the neighborhood boundaries. The elegant private club opened in 1916. For those who prefer a public course, the Rocky Point Golf Course is only seven miles away on the west side of Tampa International Airport. The Raymond James Stadium, home to the Tampa Buccaneers, is in the airport vicinity.
A number of shopping areas are close by. A good neighborhood retail center is Hyde Park Village. About seven miles away is International Plaza, which caters to high-end shoppers.
