Beacon Meadows is a pleasant neighborhood made up of a mix of mostly white and Hispanic residents. The area has an average family income of $72,000 per year, with a home value of around $365,000 for a single-family home. The majority of the homes in the area were built in the 1980s with some also built in the 1970s.

Much of the shopping in the area is done to the northwest of the community off Gunn Highway, a little over a mile away. Shops in the area include Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, Blockbuster, Publix Super Market, and a Wal-Mart Super Center. There is, however, a closer grocery store just outside of the community in the opposite direction on Gunn Highway. In a small plaza is a Sweetbay Supermarket that is a popular grocery store with many area residents.

The popular Carrollwood Cultural Center is to the north on Casey Road to Lowell Road. The cultural center is a favorite with area residents for the numerous activities and offerings that it provides. Most popular for its adult classes, the cultural center provides education on many different topics in the arts including painting, music, jewelry making, ceramics, and so much more. The cultural center is also host to many events, including regular art exhibits. They even have their own community band. The cultural center provides a place for area residents with an instrument to get together and play regardless of their abilities.

Another popular destination for area residents is down Dale Mabry Highway. Just on the corner of Village Drive and Dale Mabry Highway in the Cascades Shopping Center is Side Splitters Comedy Club. This popular club offers patrons food and drinks while they watch big-name national comedians perform. The venue is a decent size for a comedy club and is always a good time.
