It was developed in 1884 as a depot town for the transportation of goods from the area’s sawmills and turpentine distilleries. Bayard is less than 30 minutes from the historic downtown attractions of St. Augustine and less than 20 minutes from Jacksonville’s The Avenues Mall, movie theaters, and golf courses. But you don’t have to leave the neighborhood to find things to do. Bayard is home to many newer developments.
