South LA Apartments for Rent

South Los Angeles comprises as many as three dozen different communities on the south side of Los Angeles, California. The neighborhoods in this large area include Leimert Park, View Park, and Crenshaw. It is adjacent to downtown and the Westside area.

The zip code for this urban community is 90043, and it is part of Los Angeles County. South LA is bounded by I-110 on the east. On the north, it extends roughly to West Jefferson Boulevard, falling just short of Interstate 10. On the south, its boundary falls short of I-105, extending roughly to West Century Boulevard, West 108th Street, West Manchester Avenue, and West Imperial Highway. Its western boundary is even more haphazard, roughly created by South Vermont Avenue, South Prairie Avenue, South La Brea Avenue, South La Cienega Boulevard, and Jefferson Boulevard.

Most of South LA is residential, but plenty of commercial offerings can be found throughout this large community. Many popular restaurants and retailers can be found off the nearby interstates. A handful of neighborhood parks are situated throughout the community, providing opportunities for outdoor recreation. These include Centinela Park, Hollywood Park, and Darby Park.

The University of Southern California campus also falls within neighborhood bounds in its northeast corner, adjacent to the Los Angeles Coliseum and Expo Center. Another higher-education institution within walking distance of South LA is the West Los Angeles Jr. College, located just west of the community on Overland Avenue. Loyola Marymount University is also just a short drive to the west.

Another significant nearby landmark is the Los Angeles International Airport, a few miles to the west on the other side of I-405.
