Northwest Dallas Neighborhood

The Northwest Dallas area is one of the most well-known areas Dallas due to its proximity to the Dallas/Love Field airport. This airport, though not the biggest in Dallas, is one of Southwest Airlines’ primary stopping points and serves as a layover spot for many flights to the rest of the country. It is bordered to the west by Interstate Highway 35 East and to the south by West Mockingbird Lane.

The neighborhood lies to the west of Dallas/Love Field airport and spans two zip codes, 75235 and 75247. The Texas Specialty Hospital at Dallas is in the northeastern part of the Northwest Dallas neighborhood. This hospital is an acute, long-term care facility for the elderly and has won accolades from US News and World Report.

Bachman Lake can be found north of the neighborhood. A man-made lake constructed in 1903, this lake was used as a water source until White Rock Lake replaced it for that purpose. Now, Bachman Lake is used solely for recreation.

Brook Hollow Country Club makes up the majority of the southern half of the Northwest Dallas area. Founded in 1920, this private club sees some of Dallas’ elite playing golf or socializing in the Hollow Bar. While on the premises, Brook Hollow has very specific guidelines for attire and decorum.

Across Harry Hines Boulevard, which bisects the neighborhood, is a residential grid full of one-story, single family houses. Grauwyler Park is in the center of the residential area which is home to Grauwyler Recreation Center. This center is part of an initiative from the City of Dallas to give access to healthier lifestyles and safe, outdoor activities.
