Founded in 1898, Northeastern University is a private, coeducational research university located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. The university’s faculty members have earned international recognition for their achievements. Several Guggenheim Fellows have been associated with Northeastern; other distinguished faculty include a MacArthur Foundation “Genius Award” winner, a former Democratic nominee for President of the United States and a Pulitzer Prize winner.
In 2011, Northeastern received 43,000 undergraduate applications for the fall semester, the largest for any private university in the United States. It is considered one of the fastest-rising schools in the nation. In fact, the school ranked second on the list of “Up-and-coming National Universities” by US News and World Report, who also name Northeastern a Tier 1 National Research University. The school has ranked first for four consecutive years by the Princeton Review for “Best Internships/Career Services.”
