Rabon is a neighborhood for the outdoor enthusiast. Even the street names pay homage to the natural world. The main street through Rabon is Possum Track Road. It loops its way through the hilly terrain until it ends at Red Fox Run. These are single-family homes, most with long driveways that lead to houses hidden from the street. Lawns, vegetable gardens, and in a few cases, swimming pools, have been carved out of the wilderness.

The developers have built this neighborhood bordering the watershed southeast of Falls Lake. Rabon sits on a finger of heavily wooded land that juts out into that watershed. The meandering shoreline is perfect for long walks or just finding a spot to do a bit of shore fishing.

The Falls Lake State Recreation Area offers a 12,000 acre lake and even more fishing, boating, and water sports opportunities. Part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs through the park and its 26,000 acres of hardwood forests and grasslands. Certain areas allow mountain biking and camping in season. Heading a bit farther west leads to the Falls Village Golf Course & Clubhouse.

The closest school is Brassfield Elementary to the south. The Durant Road Middle School is a bit farther away. The Christian Science Committee, Bayleaf Baptist Church, and St. Luke Evangelist Catholic Church are all west of Rabon. The closest shops, restaurants, and services are to the south, including the Six Forks Station Mall south of Interstate 540. Home Depot, K-Mart and Lowe’s Foods are all represented. The Six Forks Cinema and the Endeavor Charter School are both on the south end of the mall.
