The entertainment sport of women’s roller derby is close to the neighborhood. Since 2004, the Carolina Girls have been members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. The excitement of their home games take place on a flat track located at the J. S. Dorton Arena. The 5,110-seat arena is part of the North Carolina State Fair grounds. It became a National Historic Monument in 1972.
