The Barrington Woods community is located in Wake County, just north of downtown Raleigh, and less than an hour away from the Raleigh-Durham airport. Home prices in the area begin in the low $200 thousands, and increase to more than $700 thousand. A number of apartment complexes occupy the community, with one-bedroom units ranging from $450 to $720.

Residents in these neighborhoods have a number of activities at their doorsteps. The area’s several parks offer open green space, picnic areas, walking areas, and playgrounds. Local parks include Forest Hills Park, Bay-Hargrove Park, and Red Maple Park. Millbrook Exchange and Cedar Park offer off-leash areas for dogs, play areas for children, and a walking/jogging trail.

For those who prefer to spend their days indoors, a number of shopping destinations are located less than a mile away from Barrington Woods, including the Northridge, Raleigh-Village, Falls Village, and Quail Corners. In addition, a number of smaller shops and boutiques are scattered around the area.

Historical landmarks like the Christ Episcopal Church also occupy the area. The church sits in the city’s Capitol Area Historic District, and is considered to be a national landmark. It is noted for its distinct bronze weather vane at the peak of the church’s steeple. Also located nearby is The Joel Lane Museum House, believed by most residents to be the “Birthplace of North Carolina’s Capital.” The home, which was at one point the property of Colonel Joel Lane, is considered a heritage site with statewide significance. The Colonel sold 1,000 acres of his land to the state in 1792.
