Surrounding neighborhoods include Five Points East to the east of Arlington Place, Oberlin Village to the southeast, Cameron Park to the south, and Runnymeade Road to the northwest of Arlington Place.

A distinguishing characteristic of the Arlington Place community is its historic and stately homes. For example, Fred Fletcher Park is located to the southeast and Edna Metz Well Park can be found to the south of the neighborhood. Pullen Park, Rothgeb Park, and Lions Park are fairly close, too.

Raleigh boasts several prominent private colleges; for example, Peace College is found to the southeast of Arlington Place, while Meredith College is nestled to the southwest. Not to be left out, St. Augustine’s College is close by, as well.
