Near North is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is located north of Olsen Memorial Highway and west of Interstate 94. Homes in the area are quite mixed with many detached homes as well as multiple family dwellings. One of the best destinations within Near North is North Commons Park near the center of the neighborhood. This park has many different amenities and provides a wonderful place for families to get together for recreation. The park has a baseball field, basketball court, football field, hockey rink, ice skating rink, pool, soccer field, softball field, wading pool, and picnic tables. There are also walking paths and biking trails that are perfect for those looking to get a bit of additional exercise. There is also a water park on the site that is quite popular with children.

Near North is also located in a great location for taking advantage of the tranquility of a heavily residential area while still maintaining close proximity to the big city of Minneapolis. Within only 1-3 miles for the neighborhood to the southeast are numerous major attractions providing a wide assortment of options for residents of the area. One place that is quite popular is the Minneapolis Central Library. The library has thousands of books and computers with Internet access. The library also has many different community enrichment programs including some aimed at helping children read.

Off of Hennepin Avenue about 2 miles to the southeast of Near North is the Hennepin Center for the Arts. This large building is known for housing numerous different performance companies that put on shows inside of the building on a regular basis. The building itself was built in 1888 making it a historic landmark in the region.
