Harrison is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55405 zip code and is located to the south of Olsen Memorial Highway, west of Interstate 94, and east of Wirth Park.

Homes in the area are mostly detached homes with only a few multiple family dwellings. Many of those who live in the area are the actual home owners. Most of the residences in Harrison are quite a bit older providing an excellent amount of character to the neighborhood. Since the large majority of the houses were built prior to 1940, it is easy to see the beginnings of Minneapolis.

With all of the families in the area, there’s no wonder that there are numerous parks in the area providing a wide assortment of recreational activities for youth and adults alike. The closest park is Harrison Park off Irving Avenue on the east side of Harrison. The park has a plethora of amenities including tennis courts, a playground, multiple baseball fields, a basketball court, a swimming pool, and some covered picnic areas as well.

Another major destination is Wirth Lake, located on the west side of Harrison off Glenwood Avenue. Part of Wirth Park, the lake is an excellent place for boaters with a boat ramp and dock. It is common to see recreational boaters, as well as fishermen, along the lake. There is also a sandy beach that is popular during the warmer months. The park also has numerous trails that are used by active visitors to the park for walking, running, and cycling, as well as a wild flower garden.
