One of the Navy’s busiest hubs, Naval Air Station Jacksonville employs 23,000 civilian and active-duty personnel. NAS Jacksonville was built in 1940 and is one of Duval County’s two military airports. It is the largest Navy base in the southeast and the nation’s third largest. NAS Jacksonville is home to the Patrol Squadron 30 (VP-30), the largest aviation squadron in the Navy.
