Greater Arlington Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Greater Arlington is the home of Jacksonville University, a four-year private university known for its programs in community service learning.
The community is rich in history as the first European settlement in North America. Fort Caroline, now a state park, was founded in 1562 by French Huguenots.
The area was also the home of the Kingsley Plantation, whose owner Zephaniah Kingsley in the early 1800s, had given black slaves the chance to purchase their freedom and recognized the rights of freed blacks. It would later become home to newly freed slaves from the plantation.
The Fort Caroline National Memorial, located along the St. John’s River, honors two centuries of French and Spanish colonial rivalry that reaches back to the Huguenot settlement. Guests to the park can learn about the rich history of the area including the native Timucua Indians.
Greater Arlington, which was a prestigious community in the 1960s, is again seeing growth as it goes through a revitalization.
It is located near recreational areas such as Neptune and Atlantic beaches.
Residents can join the Hidden Hills Country Club.
Greater Arlington is made up of the 32225 area code in Duval County, located in northeast Florida. It is located east and south of the St. John’s River and north of Beach Boulevard.
