Parkwood Apartments for Rent
In northern San Antonio, just southeast of State Highway 1604, is the Parkwood neighborhood. Highway 16 runs to the southwest. More than 1,250 homes make up the community of Parkwood. The neighborhood is roughly bounded by Cedar Park on the west and includes all of Autumn Park. Residents enjoy a community pool (new as of 1998), tennis courts, a children’s playground, and a half-mile of walking trails. This zip code for this Bexar County community is 78249.
Among the notable features of the Parkwood neighborhood is its close proximity to area parkland. A string of area parks runs north/south just outside of the neighborhood’s eastern boundary. These include Bamberger Nature Park, Rohde Park, Schnabel Park, and Leon Creek Greenway Park. Although Parkwood residents enjoy several amenities within neighborhood bounds, all this parkland within walking distance is certainly a draw as well. Schnabel Park alone offers access to a trail system for hiking and biking, a playscape, a basketball court, and three picnic pavilions. It also hosts a YMCA program.
Bandera Pointe is located within a mile to the west, at the convergence of Highway 1604 and Highway 16/Bandera Road. This popular area shopping center spans 10,000 square feet and is fully occupied. Among the commercial offerings here are a Salon Rouge, Spectrum Athletic Club, T.J. Maxx, Old Navy, Panda Express, Kohl’s, IHOP, and Starbucks. The Bandera Pointe Shopping Center is adjacent and offers a H-E-B Foods. Needless to say, shopping local is easy peasy when you live in Parkwood.
A variety of schools can be found in the Parkwood area, including Scobee Elementary School on Cedar Park and Grace Christian School on Prue Road.
