Oxbow is a neighborhood in San Antonio, Texas. The borders of the neighborhood are Babcock Road to the north; Spring Terrace Drive to the south; Spring Crest, Country Spring Street, and Spring Arbor to the west; and Spring Rain Drive to the east. One unique thing about the Oxbow neighborhood is that all the streets have the word spring in them. The Oxbow neighborhood is located to the northwest of downtown San Antonio, and close by to Interstate 10.
The single family homes in this neighborhood were built in the late 1970s and the 1980s. Homes are relatively small, with two or three bedrooms and small yards. Many yards have either oak or ash trees in them. There are over 1000 small houses in the Oxbow neighborhood.
Fortress Christian Academy is a private school that belongs to the Assemblies of God and offers education from Pre-K through grade 7. It is located just outside the Oxbow area. There are three public schools in the area: Carnahan, Stinson and Brandeis.
The Oxbow neighborhood is right next to the greenbelt. Rohde Park sits on the northern border and offers just a little less than a acre of park space, with a great children’s playscape and an open green area. The Greenbelt connects to the Leon Creek Greenway and offers miles of paved biking trails and unpaved hiking trails. Pets are not allowed on the Leon Creek Greenway.
While there is nothing commercial in the neighborhood, to the east on Babcock Street there is a Sonic, a Blockbuster Video, and a Dominos Pizza.
