The Forests at Inwood neighborhood is on the northernmost side of San Antonio. This small, gated community is lined with mature oaks and palm trees. The vegetation is scattered, but the landscape is beautifully done with sand and decorative rocks. All of the houses in this neighborhood are single-family homes.
There are many parks within close to Forests at Inwood, among them Regency Park, Eisenhower Park, Stone Oak Park, and Phil Hardberger Park.
The Camp Bullis military training facility is situated a few miles north of the Forests at Inwood neighborhood. This military reservation is used as a ground-unit training field for the Army, Marines, and Air Force. Named after Brigadier General John Lapham Bullis, this site has been around since 1917. During World War II, Camp Bullis was used to train some of the Army’s main infantry units as well as military field medical units. Residents can visit the camp for guided tours throughout the year.
There are two country club golf courses near Forests at Inwood. The first of these is The Club at Sonterra. This golf club is a members-only golf club but offers discounts to the residents of San Antonio. It offers 36 holes of golf, a beautiful club house, and dining for lunch and dinner. The second country club is the Oak Hills Golf Club, which is a public and private golf facility.
The University of Texas at San Antonio is a few miles to the west of Forests at Inwood and is a great alternative for students who want to stay close to home and not travel to the main campus in Austin. The San Antonio campus of the university is just as recognized as its big-brother school in Austin and offers students the opportunity to transfer at any time to the larger university without sacrificing any credits.
