Eastgate Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Eastgate neighborhood in San Antonio is just 15 minutes away from downtown San Antonio, off I-35. Eastgate is just a few minutes from Martindale Army Air Field. Less well know than Randolph and Lakeland Air Force bases, Martindale serves the National Guard. While the base may seem quiet through the week, many aviation maneuvers are done at night and on the weekend. Some families are able to watch the planes from their yards.
The area is full of restaurants for those with a taste for Tex-Mex or authentic Hispanic dishes. Southeast Ww White Road has a plethora of restaurants, including a traditional American chain Little Cesar’s.
Students in the Eastgate neighborhood attend schools overseen by the San Antonio Independent School District. Students attend the WW White Elementary School, while middle school students attend Davis Middle School. High school students attend Sam Houston High School, named after the famous 19th century statesman and soldier. Recognizing the need to better educate students in the areas of manufacturing and technology, the school recently added a Hi-Tech department to address those needs.
While Eastgate is only a short drive to downtown Houston, residents have an even shorter drive to the area’s world-class sports facilities. The AT&T Center, built in 1993, is home to the world class San Antonio Spurs, which has the best record of any professional sports team. For those who love college football, one of the bowl season’s most anticipated games is played at the Aladome, which is also nearby. Rivals from the Big 10 Conference and the Big 12 Conference play each year in the Alamo Bowl.
