Cedar Crest Neighborhood

Cedar Crest is located just south of the West End Historic District, and only a short distance from the Dallas Zoo. The boundaries are Interstate 30 to the north, Interstate 45 to the east, Interstate 35 East to the west, and East Illinois Avenue to the south. Cedar Crest lies in the 75203 zip code.

This neighborhood fits in well with the Historic District, as many houses in the area were built as long ago as 1926. Other homes, however, were built as recently as 2005. These residences tend to be smaller single family structures that range in size from 830 square feet to just under 1400 square feet. The area is filled with mature trees and nicely landscaped lots, making this area look very appealing and restful, especially for a neighborhood that is so close to the heart of the city.

Families with children will love the neighborhood’s close proximity to the Dallas Zoo. The zoo’s 95 acres are devoted to a host of different animals, fun family activities, learn opportunities, interactive features and games, pony rides, and children’s farm.

The zoo was founded in 1888, and is the oldest and largest zoological park in the southwest. Visitors can rent wheelchairs and strollers, eat in one of the zoo’s dining facilities, or visit the gift and souvenir shop.

The Kresge Foundation Farm has an unusual collection of farm animals, including pygmy goats, Sicilian miniature donkeys, Old English baby doll sheep, and even barn owls.
