Wingspread Apartments for Rent

Wingspread is a southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood consisting of both suburban single-family homes and nearby apartment complexes. It is located at Southwest 89th Street and May Avenue, adjacent to I-44. Many rentals are available in this area because of the proximity of Oklahoma City Community College, just one mile north, which has an enrollment of 20,000 students.

Wingspread’s name may be influenced by the fact that it is next to Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport. This large airport terminal is just a few miles from Wingspread and the neighborhood borders the southern reaches of the airport’s property. Much of this airport land along I-44 in the Wingspread area may soon become a large commercial development providing much-needed shopping for southwest Oklahoma City.

Until that shopping is built, I-240 is the main shopping axis for this part of Oklahoma City. Many new big-box retailers are opening on this commuter loop. Access to I-240 is just two miles north of Wingspread. For additional shopping, I-44 with an on-ramp at 89th Street allows swift access to Oklahoma City shopping corridors such as the Northwest Expressway and Memorial Road. It also interchanges with I-40, which can carry vehicles into downtown Oklahoma City for nightlife and entertainment ranging from the NBA to Broadway musicals.

Closer to home, a great way to stay busy is Earlywine Park, one of the nicest recreational facilities in the city. Just a mile south of Wingspread, this park has many great features. An 18-hole public golf course at Earlywine is a perfect way to enjoy the nicest Oklahoma days. For those who aren’t into golfing, Earlywine also has an aquatic center, an on-site YMCA, playgrounds, tennis courts, soccer pitches, and walking or biking trails that network with the rest of the Oklahoma City trails system.

Wingspread is a great place to live for people who love to stay active and have access to many different parts of Oklahoma City.
