This area was once known as having one of the largest amusement parks in the area. The Springlake Amusement Park, established in 1922, was open to both swimmers and families picnicking. The park was soon expanded to include many rides and a ballroom. Another well-known school in the area is the Metro Area Vocational College. The school, which is located near Springlake in District 22, provides culinary arts and chef training classes.

The Oklahoma City Police Department is located minutes from Springlake on North Prospect Avenue and Staton Drive.

Springlake Park, Perry Park, Phillips Park, Oklahoma City Zoological Park, Pitts Park, and the huge Lincoln Park can all be found within blocks of Springlake. Those parks are filled with playgrounds, golf areas, and walking trails.
