Persimmon Hill Apartments for Rent

(hide neighborhood information)

The focus of the Persimmon Hill neighborhood is the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. A mostly rural enclave of rolling hills, woods and meadows, the neighborhood is a fine setting for the famous museum dedicated to the stirring history of the old West. The Oklahoma National Guard also has a facility in Persimmon Hill, with extensive barracks and training grounds.

The zip code for Persimmon Hill is 73111. The northern boundary of the neighborhood is Northeast 78th Street, which becomes East Wilshire Boulevard. The eastern boundary is North Eastern Avenue, which is also called North Martin Luther King Avenue. On the south side of the neighborhood, the boundary is Northeast 63rd Street, and on the west, the boundary line is North Kelley Avenue. Just south of the Persimmon Hill neighborhood, the Interstate 44 highway retraces the course of legendary Route 66.

Persimmon Hill is part of the Adventure District of Oklahoma City, which also includes the acclaimed Oklahoma City Zoo, The National Softball Hall of Fame, Remington Park Racino and, of course, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. The Cowboy Museum is full of remarkable art and artifacts related to the opening of the western frontier and is a well-regarded research institution, as well as a fascinating place for a visit.

Housing is sparse and mostly single-family in the immediate area of Persimmon Hill, although there are many hotels near the museum. South of I-44, the area becomes more dense and urban and apartments and condominiums are much easier to find.
