This residential area partly covers the Raleigh Municipal Lake, which serves as its northwestern border. It is also bounded by Lake Road and Wexford Drive on the north and Peach Road on the east and south. The neighborhood is a stone’s throw away from the freeway, which is easily accessible from the nearby Fenwick Drive and South Saunders Street.

A number of other Raleigh neighborhoods surround the area. From its northwest side, West Parkland is about 12 miles away from the William B. Umstead State Park and the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. A number of man-made ponds and lakes are scattered around Raleigh, many of them south of West Parkland. The larger ones nearest the neighborhood are Lakes Wheeler and Benson.

Because it’s so close to the airport and a number of natural attractions, West Parkland is served by more than a dozen hotels within a five-mile radius. They include the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel, Raleigh Marriott City Center, Clarion Hotel State Capital, and Holiday Inn Brownstone. On the more affordable end are Comfort Inn, Best Western, EconoLodge, Super 8, and Budget Inn.

The area is home to a thriving tech industry, and many residents work for technology companies.
