Village Gate Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Village Gate is a very small, yet densely populated community of Raleigh. It has an area of 0.026 square miles, and a population of about 150 residents. More than half of the residential buildings of the community are apartment buildings, or condo buildings housing five or more units. Only around a quarter of the Village Gate residential buildings are single-family, detached homes.
Shelley Lake Park, with its massive 53-acre Shelley Lake (which is the park’s obvious namesake,) is to the west of Village Gate and is easily within a reasonable driving distance. Visitors often paddle canoes along the picturesque lake. The park offers paths for cycling, hiking, jogging, and dog walking.
Village Gate is quite a family-friendly neighborhood, with young families in abundance. It has highly regarded schools within walking distance. The Jesse O. Sanderson High School is only about a half-mile west of Village Gate, and academically, it ranks highly in the state. Green School, known for the strength of its special education section, is also only about a half-mile away from the community. The School of Grace and St. Raphael Catholic School are both outstanding parochial schools and easily within walking distance for residents of the community.
There are lots of educational opportunities in and around Village Gate beyond the confines of the formal classroom setting. The nearby Marbles Kids Museum seems to be all fun, but it is purposeful play, and there are lots of extra exhibits. The North Carolina Transportation Hall of Fame is only about a half-mile north of Village Gate. The Museum of Natural Sciences is over five miles to its south, while the North Carolina Museum of Art is around five miles to Village Gate’s southwest.
