Located in the 27601 zip code, the boundaries are East Lenoir Street on the north, Rock Quarry Road on the east, Church Street on the west extending south via an imaginary line to the southern boundary of South Boundary Street/Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Quarry Hill is surrounded by the major highways US 64/I-40, I-440, I-540, and US 1.

Homes in the neighborhood were built in the 1950s through the 2000s and feature grassy lawns and mature trees. Some of the streets have sidewalks, so residents may walk and ride bikes.

The Quarry Hill area is close to all of the amenities of city living: Numerous parks, shopping and dining establishments, colleges and universities, the arts, and more.

The park closest to Quarry Hill is the 37-acre Chavis Park located at 505 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Named after John Chavis (1762-1838,) this park features a 1937 carousel that can still be ridden for $1, a community center with recreational and educational activities, playgrounds, picnic areas and shelters, a running track, lighted ball fields, and views of downtown Raleigh. Northeast of Quarry Hill is the Raleigh Country Club.

Quarry Hill is located near the Moore Square downtown arts district, which includes restaurants that feature barbecue and Mexican fare, City Market Produce, Marbles Kids Museum, Lincoln Theatre, 101 Lounge and Cafe, and other dining, cultural, and entertainment venues. There are also malls and shopping centers nearby, including the Garner Towne Center Shopping Center — less than a mile south of the neighborhood.

Colleges and universities include St. Augustine’s College, Shaw University, Peace College, and North Carolina State University. Neighborhood children may attend Hunter Elementary School, Ligon Middle School, Carnage Middle School, Moore Square Museum Magnet School, and Ligon High Schools.
