Raleigh, North Carolina boasts three major state museums, 150 city parks and the Capitol Area Greenway Trail System with 41 miles of trails. South of Capital Boulevard is the neighborhood of Mordecai Village, in zip code area 27604. This neighborhood offers neatly maintained homes, mostly two-story, single-family residences. Mordecai Village is minutes from the Mordecai Historical Park. Mordecai Historical Park is home to the birthplace of President Andrew Johnson, the Mordecai House and Gardens, and even old-fashioned trolley rides. The North Carolina State Capital building is about five minutes south of neighborhood. Visitors to the historic building can take in several pieces of statuary and art honoring Raleigh residents and important events.
About four miles to the north of Mordecai Village is Duke Raleigh Hospital. It has 186 beds and is part of the Duke University Health System, with a state-of-the-art cancer center. Two miles to the south is the Raleigh Amtrak Station and the Marbles Kids Museum, a place of interactive cultural arts for kids of all ages.
Being centrally located, Mordecai Village is close to several city parks. These include Oakwood Park, Lions Park, Edna Metz Wells Park, Fred Fletcher Park and Pullen Park. On the north side of Pullen Park next to the Theatre in the Park is the Pullen Arts Center. The arts center offers several studio programs for residents, including painting, fiber arts, and pottery.
Mordecai Village is just seven miles east of the RBC Center, home to Raleigh’s own National Hockey League team, the Carolina Hurricanes.
