Although technically designated as a neighborhood under official Raleigh city documentation, the “neighborhood” of Maloney consists solely of a single home on Anderson Drive between White Oak Road and Hazelwood Drive. Maloney Manor, as it is sometimes called, is a rather large home within a larger community of large homes.

Today, many residents informally call the residential homes surrounding Maloney’s official borders as being in Maloney. Although this enlarged area encompasses much land that is not officially designated as Maloney by the city, this informal designation has predominated with real estate experts and local residents alike.

At less than a quarter mile to the Carolina Country Club, many residents surrounding Maloney’s borders find becoming a member of the club a very good deal. Those who don’t can enjoy Rothgeb Park for its recreational activities. Both are within walking distance of Maloney.

Due to Maloney’s north central Raleigh setting, access to Interstate 440 is quite simple via Anderson Drive. When this feature is combined with Maloney’s equally easy access to downtown Raleigh, many consider living near Maloney to be among the best locales to live in, in all of the city of Raleigh.

Although residents in and around Maloney have not joined together in a neighborhood association of any kind, individual residents in the general vicinity have lodged their own comments on many projects undertaken by the city. They express themselves concerning issues occurring within the area, causing the city of Raleigh to pay special attention to the needs of the greater Maloney area.
