Forest Creek Apartments for Rent
The neighborhoods of Forest Creek are located just off Forest Creek Drive, a few miles west of Penny Road in Raleigh. Slightly more than a mile away from these homes is Lake Wheeler Park, which has more than 150 acres of walking and hiking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The highlight of the park is the 650-acre Lake Wheeler, where residents can enjoy fishing or a variety of boat rentals, including paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. Personal motor crafts can also be launched for a minimal fee. The park is also the site of the Waterfront Program Center, which hosts a number of events and programs throughout the year.
Forest Creek residents who enjoy performing or wish to learn dance or music might enjoy studying at Center Stage School of Performing Arts. Trained instructors with more than 20 years of experience not only teach children and adults routines but also the art of dance in ballet, clogging, and tap. For the musically inclined, the school also gives lessons in stringed and brass instruments, piano, percussion, and bag piping.
Those looking for new fashions at a reasonable cost might want to stop in at Abbeygail’s Closet, a thrift shop located near the state fairgrounds. This shop offers a large selection of designer clothes and shoes for women and children, as well as toys, books, and household goods at bargain prices. The shop is run by volunteers from the Women’s Center of Raleigh. Many of the proceeds from goods sold go to benefit the center, which helps homeless and almost-homeless women who are trying to get back on their feet and reestablish their lives.
