The community of Egerton is located in northern Raleigh, North Carolina. This small residential neighborhood is situated off of Wynbrook Way, near Stable Court. Residents have easy access to Highway 50 and Lead Mine Road, which both offer easy commutes to the Raleigh area, via the I-440 Loop.
Homes in Egerton were primarily built between the 1980s and today, however, a few homes date back to the early 1900s. Houses here range in size, architecture, and price. Small ranch style homes and large two-story Victorians line the streets. Many have front porches and lots are heavily treed. The community is close-knit, the kind of community where everybody knows each other’s names. Residents in the area are educated and affluent. A very large percentage of residents a married with children. Although Egerton is a retreat from city life, it’s still close enough to all of the conveniences of the city.
Shelly Lake Park, just southeast of the community, offers a wide array of outdoor activities to its visitors. This popular park features a 53 acre lake and over three miles of paved trails. Walkers, joggers, and bikers all enjoy this scenic retreat. Open spaces allow for family picnicking, kite flying, or playing frisbee. The lake is excellent for fishing and boating. An on-site boat house even rents out boats. The Sertoma Arts Center is located at the park as well, offering classes to artists of all skill levels.
Shopping centers near Egerton include Townridge, Six Forks Station, and Stonehenge Market.
