Adjacent to the Freman Tract neighborhood, Cranbrook is immediately north of the Honeycutt Road/Deer Forest Trail intersection. Twelve miles to the west of Cranbrook is the 5,000-acre William B. Umstead State Park. A local favorite for outdoor enthusiasts, the park has two sections and can be reached via Interstate 40 or U.S. 70. The park has 20 miles of trails, including hikes for the novice or experienced hiker. Three man-made lakes offer fishing and boating, the largest aptly named Big Lake. Other park amenities include camping and picnicking.
