Raleigh is more than historical landmarks and state universities. Raleigh is the second-largest city in North Carolina, as well as its capital. It is an environmentally progressive community, a thriving center for cultural arts, and home to three state museums. The city is made up of family-friendly neighborhoods located near schools, shopping, parks, and recreation.
Adjacent to the Northern Wake Expressway/Interstate 540 is the Coventry neighborhood. It lies east of the expressway and south of Fox Road. A mid-sized residential community, Coventry has winding lanes lined with sidewalks and is within walking distance of Wake Technical Community College.
The community is only five miles east of the Millbrook Exchange Park on Spring Forest Road. Within the park are tennis courts, ball fields, and a community center. The Millbrook Exchange Pool is located there and operates year-round. Dog owners can enjoy the park’s dog park, the oldest in the city of Raleigh.
Coventry is conveniently located between the Durant Nature Park and the city’s large Marsh Creek Park. The Durant Nature Park has miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. The Marsh Creek Park features a community center with a fitness room, gymnasium, and multi-purpose room.
About six miles west of the Coventry neighborhood is the North Ridge Country Club. In addition to two 18-hole golf courses, the club has a fitness center and swimming and tennis facilities. The club’s junior tennis program is recognized nationally, with more than 40 juniors reaching national rank status.
Downtown Raleigh is about 10 miles south of Coventry. Once downtown, residents find it easy to get around via Raleigh’s R-Line. The R-Line is the city’s hybrid electric buses that run every 10 to 15 minutes throughout the downtown area.
