Colewood Acres Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Colewood Acres is a small neighborhood in Raleigh with family-sized brick ranch houses and family-sized yards. The majority of the Colewood Acres houses were built in the 1950s when land was much more plentiful.
The community was developed from old farm land, so the fertile ground produces lush grass, beautiful magnolias, bright azaleas, and several types of fruit-bearing trees. Built from a variety of plans, the homes have a unique appeal. Some of the older homes have been remodeled with modern touches such as solar panels.
Colewood Acres is full of pet owners. Dogs often play and lounge in the large neighborhood yards or accompany their owners on walks on Colewood Drive and in nearby neighborhoods. Among churches in the area, the Beacon Baptist Church is located at the end of Colewood Drive on Trawick Drive. Trawick Drive connects Colewood Acres with busy New Bern Avenue and Capital Boulevard. Also very close are several exits for the Raleigh Beltline, making the rest of the city very accessible.
At the corner of Trawick and New Bern Avenue is the Tower Shopping Center. It covers all the basic needs of Colewood Acres residents since it has a grocery store, drug store, and novelty retailers. There are plenty of restaurants in the center and in the surrounding area.
The WakeMed Health and Hospitals complex on New Bern Avenue is a short drive from Colewood Acres. There are also many clinics near the hospital. New Bern Avenue also leads to beautiful downtown Raleigh and a wide selection of theaters, restaurants, historical landmarks, and museums. In the opposite direction, New Bern Avenue becomes Knightdale Boulevard, a quick and easy way to get to the popular and growing town of Knightdale.
