With large homes surrounded by tall trees, Castle Ridge is a small, peaceful neighborhood north of downtown Raleigh. The large houses were built in the mid-1980s and 1990s, and most sit on lots that are at least an acre. A creek that leads to Falls Lake runs through the neighborhood, adding to the serene atmosphere there.

Castle Ridge is in zip code 27614, and the houses line Castle Ridge Road. There are no through streets in the neighborhood, and the only entrance is off Six Forks Road.

Falls Lake, one of Raleigh’s most popular recreation areas, is just north of Castle Ridge. The entrance to Falls Lake State Recreation Area, a park area on the south side of the lake, is a five-mile drive from the neighborhood. The 12,000-acre lake is a popular place for boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming, while land lovers enjoy the park’s hiking trails and scenic picnic spots. Golfers can head to the Falls Village Golf Course close to the lake, and courses at Wildwood Country Club and North Ridge Country Club also are nearby.

A small, independent grocery store is a few minutes from the neighborhood, and chain grocery stores and other convenience shops are a few miles away. Crabtree Valley Mall and Triangle Town Center, two of Raleigh’s largest malls, are a 20-minute drive from Castle Ridge.

An on-ramp to Interstate 540 is a few miles from the neighborhood, and the highway connects to the Raleigh-Durham airport, Cary, and the Research Triangle Park, where many area residents are employed. Downtown Raleigh is about 30 minutes south, and it is home to North Carolina State University and the North Carolina state government offices.
