Briarwood north is a neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is located north of downtown and outside, but convenient to, the Beltline Interstate 440. North Hills Drive is the major road that passes through the Briarwood North neighborhood. The other streets are Shelley Drive, Kintyre Circle, Lennox Place, Shadowbrook Drive, Shadowood Lane, Ashton Drive, Kimbrook Drive, Laniel Court and Prisma Court. Briarwood North is a community in the greater neighborhood of Chestnut Hills.
Shelley Lake and Sertoma Park are just outside the neighborhood across West Millbrook Road. There is access under the road so that it is not necessary to cross a busy road.
The neighborhood is residential. These are single family homes that come in a variety of styles. There are some Tudor design split-levels among others; there are also brick split-levels, ranch-style and a few two-story colonial-style homes. The lots in this area are spacious and there are many tall trees. The neighborhood has a rural feel and yet North Hills Drive is a busy road with a light at the corner of Shelley Drive and North Hills Road.
Many of the streets in the neighborhood have sidewalks on both sides of the street for easy walking. The majority of homes in Briarwood North were built in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. Most of them have been updated since they were originally constructed over 40 years ago. Prices in the area run in the upper $200,000s and low $300,000s.
Brooks Elementary School is located near the neighborhood. There is a park and ride just north of Briarwood North at Shelley Lake on the north side of West Millbrook Rd.
