A mile from downtown, the Brewers Glynn neighborhood is a great starting place for a bike ride, an evening stroll, or walking the family dog. Sidewalks line both sides of the street throughout the neighborhood and into the downtown area of Wake Forest.
The Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary is on the grounds of the first site of Wake Forest College. Established in 1951, the seminary offers advanced degrees in several disciplines. It shares a 600-acre campus with the associated College of Southeastern, which offers an undergraduate degree. The campus is a five-minute drive from the Brewers Glynn subdivision.
Two blocks from the seminary, Wake Forest College operates a museum and archive open to the public for tours since 1979. The museum is housed in the original 1820 residence of plantation owner Calvin Jones. Together, the museum and the seminary cover close to 800 acres of downtown Wake Forest and provide a place of leisure and learning.
Another great spot close enough to to reach by bike or walking is the 15-acre Ailey Young Park, less than a mile north of Brewers Glynn. The active recreation area of the park has a children’s playground, baseball field, and basketball courts. Visitors also enjoy plenty of open space for picnics and Frisbee or just relaxing with family and friends.
Children living in the neighborhood attend Forest Pines Elementary, Wake Forest–Rolesville Middle, and Wake Forest-Rolesville Senior High schools. They also have the option of attending Franklin Academy, a local K through 12 public charter school. Nearby private schools include St. Catherine of Siena Elementary and Middle School, Rising Star Christian Academy, and the Montessori Children’s House for children three to six.
