Northwoods Neighborhood

Northwoods is a primarily residential, densely populated neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. It was incorporated in 1940, and has an area of less than a square mile and a population of approximately 4,500.

Lucas and Hunt Road is the western border of Northwoods, while its eastern border is formed by the community of Pine Lawn. Natural Bridge Road serves as the southern border. Interstate 70 is its northern border, and connects the small community to the cultural, natural, and historical attractions that the greater St. Louis area has to offer.

Several medical facilities and hospitals are located nearby. Christian Hospital Northeast is three miles from the center of the neighborhood. St. Louis Connect Care and Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center are located within a 3-mile radius.

Northwoods is known as a family-friendly community, with several quality public and private schools in the area. It is served by the Normandy Public School District. The teaching staff of Garfield Elementary School, a half-mile to the southeast, has been lauded for its commitment and success. Korner Stone Kids Preschool and St. Vincent School are a half-mile away from the neighborhood. St. Ann Catholic School is a little under a mile to the west.

Educational opportunities in and near Northwoods only begin in the classroom. Several cultural and educational attractions are easily accessible by residents. The St. Louis Art Museum is four and a half miles away. The Missouri History Museum, which attracts visitors from all over the state and beyond, is a four-mile drive south of Northwoods.
